Gamasutra's round-up of worldwide video game releases for this week, "Release This!", notes major U.S. releases such as Dead Rising alongside intriguing Japanese titles such as Melty Blood: Act Cadenza, compiling all releases for the week ending August 12th. In the introduction to this comprehensive piece, columnist Danny Cowan notes: "New releases slow to a trickle this week, with all regions suffering from a gaming drought that could worsen in the coming months. Nevertheless, a few noteworthy titles like Dead Rising, Super Robot Taisen: Original Generation, and Melty Blood: Act Cadenza will still manage to find their way to stores in the next several days." It's noted of U.S. releases: "Gamers in the United States don't have many options to choose from among this week's crop of new releases, with a scant eight titles offering little in the way of variety. Strategy-RPG fans will likely be pleased by the release of Super Robot Taisen: Original Generation, however, as the title marks the first overseas release the series has seen since its debut in Japan in 1991... Dead Rising also makes its debut in the United States this week. The game represents an unusual departure for Capcom, as Dead Rising is said to be less serious in tone than its similarly zombie-filled Resident Evil series."
