Di-O-Matic has announced its latest plug-in development, Voice-O-Matic version 2 for 3DS Max. Voice-O-Matic 2 uses an intelligent phonetic engine that can break down audio files and automatically assign up to 40 correct phonemes to make character models speak. Voice-O-Matic 2 can handle English, French, Italian, German and Spanish. Animators can also tweak their results with standard Bezier curve controls and smoothing algorithms so that the fine-tuning process is simplified. Included in this new version is a new interface to accelerate the lip-sync process; audio cues to hear an example of the phoneme to make sure the correct one is selected; weighable phonemes so developers can put emphasis on certain phonemes and have more control over the lip-sync. Voice-O-Matic 2 supports 3DS Max 6 to 3DS Max 8 and has been optimized for 3DS Max 8, the newest version of Autodesk's animation software.
