Digimation releases Stitch Lite, a cloth simulation plug-in for 3ds max. Stitch Lite enables the animation of realistic fabric. Stitch Lite animate various fabric from stretchy rubber to more sophisticated fabrics like heavy cotton, silks and canvas. Stitch Lite can also combine cloth objects enabling the creation or shirts with pockets and collars. Because Stitch Lite is fully integrated with 3ds max, dynamic secondary motions can be given to cloth by adding Wind and Gravity Space Warps. This allows fabrics to flow, fold, bunch and gather realistically as characters and objects move. More advanced controls include vertex level control over the dynamic and static properties of the cloth. Some other controls include air resistance, and the ability to attach parts of the cloth to other objects, allowing characters to grab a scarf without relying on the simulation alone. There are also controls for positioning the cloth by grabbing and pulling it during a simulation. Stitch Lite costs $195.
