Publisher Merscom has announced a partnership with Double Trump to bring 5 titles to PlayOn Arcade, Double Trump's casual game platform with a "true micro-licensing" model that lets players download and play games for a penny a minute up to a pre-defined maximum charge. Under the terms of the deal, casual titles Ingenious, D.N.A, Buku Sudoku, Ball 7 and Buku Kakuro will be released on the PlayOn Arcade. Double Trump notes that under the "micro-licensing" arrangement, the maximum charge for any given title is limited by the list price of the game, but otherwise players will only have to pay for the "actual time they have played" at the $0.01 per minute rate. The company says the "new method of monetization answers the longstanding industry question of 'how do we monetize the other 99%?'" and has thus far "demonstrated superb results." Said Double Trump CEO Assaf Monsa, “We are excited to be working with Merscom. Our business model is based on letting our customers buy as much of a game as they want, never paying without getting value for their money, and they are going to find Merscom’s games very addicting.”
