Sony has announced that MMO producer NCsoft has signed a new deal to provide original and classic MMO console and portable titles exclusively to Sony, as Epic partners with the company to optimize Unreal Engine 3 for the console, and offers Unreal Tournament 3 as a 2007 exclusive. Best known for titles like Guild Wars and City of Heroes, NCsoft says it will deliver titles exclusively to the PS3, PSP over Sony's PlayStation Network. No specific titles were yet announced, but NCsoft officials said the games would be "created from both existing intellectual properties owned by NCsoft, as well as new IP." At the conference, SCEA president Jack Tretton also announced that in conjunction with Midway and Epic, Unreal Engine 3 would see a full optimization for the PlayStation 3 platform. Tretton also announced that Midway's forthcoming Unreal Tournament 3 would be exclusive to the PlayStation 3 "this year," and would for the first time allow PS3 players to bring user created PC mods into the console version of the game through the PlayStation Network.
