Electronic Arts chief creative director Richard Hilleman will deliver a keynote address at Unite 2009, the conference dedicated to the Unity game engine and development environment. According to a statement from tech developer Unity Technologies, Hilleman will address how new types of games and game-capable devices are expanding the boundaries of the gaming audience. One of EA's first 20 employees, Hilleman has been with the publisher since 1982, and took over the chief creative role from Bing Gordon last year. Unite takes place in San Francisco from October 27 to 30, and is comprised of a variety of presentations, technical sessions, and social events, centered around development with the Unity engine as well as business and platform concerns. "It's fantastic that we’re able to attract people of Richard's caliber," said Unity's own chief creative officer, Nicholas Francis. "With Electronic Arts getting more involved in web-based games, he is one of the people who have a great overview of how the landscape looks and what new opportunities there are." Hilleman succeeds Infogrames director and former Sony executive Phil Harrison, who keynoted last year's Unite conference.
