Eidos (Tomb Raider, Kane and Lynch) has announced it will publish Monster Lab, developed by Backbone Entertainment (Science Fair of Doom), on Nintendo Wii and DS in 2008. Monster Lab casts the player in the role of an apprentice scientist who must perform a variety of experiments to create a monster from over 100 million available monster part variations. The player can then use the monster to explore, find more monster parts, fight other monsters, compete in mini games or complete quests, with the goal of defeating an evil baron. Eidos says that, as a third-party online Wii game, players can compete with friends in one-on-one multiplayer combat, or trade and collect item parts among one another. Eidos global brand controller Fabien Rossini said, "Monster Lab will offer a wealth of fresh ideas to both Wii and DS players. These include gesture-based combat, a compelling online fighting and trading system and total customization of the player’s monster.”
