Officials from British publisher Eidos have confirmed rumors of preliminary talks with a number of companies regarding a possible takeover bid. In a trading update issued today the company confirmed "preliminary discussions with a small number of parties in relation to possible business combinations". Shares in the company rose by over 4% after the update, following a 10% rise yesterday when the first rumors broke. The company’s share price collapsed some weeks ago when a profits warning was issued at the end of its financial year. Publishers Electronic Arts, Activision and Ubisoft have all been mooted as possibly buyers for the company, although industry scuttlebutt currently places Electronic Arts at the most likely at this stage.
