Eidos Reports Six Month Results, Shows Improved Performance

Eidos announced results for the last six month of the 2002 calendar year, posting an operating profit (before "exceptional" charges are factored in) of 5.4 million pounds, on revenues of 88.9 million pounds (up 28% over last year).

Last year the company reported a 600,000 pound loss during the same period. Eidos executives credited the improved performance on changes the company implemented in its publishing business to improve its margins and reduce operating costs. The company released seven new titles during the period, with Hitman 2 and TimeSplitters 2 selling over one million units each. This year the company plans to release Championship Manager 4 (PC), Tomb Raider: The Angel of Darkness (PS2 and PC), Commandos III and Deus Ex II for the PC, plus Backyard Wrestling (PS2 and Xbox), The Italian Job (PS2, Xbox and GameCube), Soul Reaver 3 (PS2) and Spanx (PS2).
