Graphically-enhanced versions of the acclaimed PlayStation 2 games God of War 1 and 2 are both coming to PS3 on Blu-ray disc in the God of War Collection this holiday, Sony Computer Entertainment America said Monday. Sony is selling the collection for $39.99, or $20 cheaper than a typical PS3 release. The compilation will arrive a few months before God of War III for PS3, which is due for release in March 2010 and is in development by Sony Santa Monica. The collection will be more than just a straight port of the PS2 versions of each game. Both titles will sport 1280 x 720 resolution, will run at 60 frames per second, and feature anti-aliasing to smooth out the visuals. Sony is also adding trophy support for the games, so players can add awards to their virtual collection of other PS3 trophies. While the original games were developed by Sony Santa Monica, Schott Rohde, VP of Worldwide Studios America, said the company partnered with Blast Factor developer Bluepoint Games on the conversions. The God of War action games feature the Spartan Warrior Kratos, who fights through levels of monsters derived from Greek mythology. The two games were critical and commercial hits on PS2.
