Upstart developer Epicenter Studios, made up of former Call of Duty, Shrek, Spider-Man and Star Trek franchise producers, have announced Real Heroes: Firefighter, a Wii exclusive 'family-friendly' firefighting action puzzle game. Epicenter says the title will put players in the "soon-to-be soot-stained boots of a rookie firefighter who has just been assigned to a busy metropolitan fire station." The game will feature what the studio calls its "Thinking Fire" technology, giving the game's fire a character that will cause "unexpected changes to the environments that will suddenly alter the player’s options and strategies." Though the game, which the developer says emphasizes "non-violent, game-integral puzzles that mirror the challenges and on-the-fly choices firefighters actually face," has yet to find a publisher, Epicenter has secured initial funding for development of the game, which it is readying for a holiday 2008 release. Said Epicenter CCO Bryan Jury, “Combining our unique fire tech with the specific strengths of the Wii was a natural choice for us as we designed Real Heroes. The Wii-mote makes spraying down fires with your hose, hacking down doors with your axe and prying victims loose from wrecked cars with the Jaws of Life an absolutely visceral game experience.”
