Eyetronics, provider of high-res scanning services and animation-ready 3D models for film, TV, commercials and games like Mass Effect has announced an expansion into Canada starting with Montreal in September 2007 to Toronto and Vancouver in 2008. In addition to providing 3D scanning for several feature films lensed in Canada including Outlander and The Last Mimzy, Eyetronics says it has produced 3D scans of more than 1400 Major League players and coaches for games from Sony and 2k Sports, as well as for Edmonton, Alberta based BioWare’s Mass Effect, as it recently announced. The company, which says it specializes in photorealistic scans of all species of animals, adds it has developed new technology capable of producing a full body scan in 90 seconds, useful to producers of films with large casts of characters. Scan data from Eyetronics’ portable equipment is processed in the company's proprietary software and exported as 3D models with 4k texture and color data, ready for integration in production pipelines. "We have a solid client base in Canada and having our new offices in place over the next twelve months in Montreal, Toronto and Vancouver will provide greater service and convenience for our customers," states Nick Tesi, Eyetronics vice president of operations. "And although our systems are extremely mobile and give us the capability to be anywhere in the world within 24 hours or less, the growth of production in Canada demands that we have systems in place at all times.”
