AI solutions company Xaitment GmbH has announced that Factor 5 (Lair, Star Wars: Rogue Squadron) will use its Xait-Engine AI system in the development of an unannounced multiplatform title. Xait-Engine uses a modular approach that can be used either as a stand-alone product or in conjunction with existing technology. It features traditional pathfinding tools as well as decision-making, machine learning and team behavior tools. The company says it tailors the modular system to the needs of its customers during development. It also focuses on NPC interaction and emotional intelligence. Xaitment adds that the relationship with Factor 5 is a "proving ground" for its AI system, whose development was spearheaded by Xaitment group CEO Dr. Andreas Gerber. Said Gerber, “We’re excited to be working with Factor 5. Our goal has always been to develop an AI system that could negate the differences between human behaviors and game character behaviors. We’re certain that the project which is currently in development by Factor 5 will prove our system capable of achieving that goal."
