Fantasy Football: Touchdown due July 21

Virtual league football is the idea behind EA Sports Fantasy Football, the online game the company today announced it will launch July 21. For a fee, players will be able to join an electronic football league organized by EA Sports ($9.99), or play as the managerial figure of a league of 32 teams ($99.99). Private leagues will be made available for a higher price. Users will be able to track their league of up to 32 team owners. The company said it will also provide for players’ personalized homepages with real-time stats. An additional, weekly game called “Pick’em Game” will reward winners with prizes (likely, EA gear). Initial response from European game sites is that the game won’t appeal to non-American players—unless EA develops a similar title based on what the rest of the planet calls “football” (our “soccer”) instead of the American, barely foot-related version.
