Nintendo officials have claimed that stock of the GameCube console has nearly sold in the US and that the company is seeking to bring supplies in from elsewhere. According to spokeswoman Perrin Kaplan “about 50% of our stores are out.” This news stands in stark contrasts to the temporary halt in production of the console last year, before the highly successful price cut in September. The new lower price continues to have a positive effect on the console’s sales with January hardware sales up 60% on the same time in 2003 and software sales up 101%. Source: Reuters
