GameFly Charts Again See Darkness, 360 Titles On Top

This week's top rental charts from U.S. game rental company GameFly, representing the most requested games for the week ending June 25, highlight both to-be-released and already released games in a unique demand-specific chart. As has often been the case in recent weeks, Xbox 360 titles have dominated the overall requests, with Take Two's Darkness taking top honors for the second week in a row. In addition, a pair from Codemasters, DiRT and Overlord, rounded out the top three titles on the all platform chart. What follows is a break down of the top titles requested by GameFly subscribers across each of the major platforms: Xbox 360 1. Darkness (Take Two), 2. Overlord (Codemasters), 3. DiRT (Codemasters), 4. Call of Juarez (Ubisoft), 5. Shadowrun (Microsoft). As was the case last week, Take Two's Darkness managed to capture the interest of GameFly subscribers as the top requested Xbox 360 title for the week, follows by Codemasters' Overlord and DiRT. Shadowrun, Microsoft's initial attempt to bridge both the Xbox 360 and Vista gaming communities, continues to hold on to the chart's fifth position for the second straight week. Nintendo Wii 1. Resident Evil 4 (Capcom), 2. Big Brain Academy: Wii Degree (Nintendo), 3. Mario Party 8 (Nintendo), 4. Pokemon Battle Revolution (Nintendo), 5. Super Paper Mario (Nintendo). As expected, the Wii edition of Resident Evil 4 found its way to the top of the Wii charts for the week, as last week's favorite, Big Brain Academy: Wii Degree, fell into second. Pokemon Battle Revolution, which ships this week from Nintendo and represents the console's first true online title, pulled up a spot from last week to take fourth. PlayStation 3 1. Ninja Gaiden Sigma (Tecmo), 2. Darkness (Take Two), 3. Rainbow Six: Vegas (Ubisoft), 4. Transformers: The Game (Activision), 5. Splinter Cell: Double Agent (Ubisoft). The week's PS3 requests were topped by Tecmo's Ninja Gaiden Sigma, which toppled Take Two's Darkness, as the comic-inspired shooter fell from the top spot last week to second place on the current chart. The chart was also home to a pair of Ubisoft titles as well, with Rainbow Six: Vegas and Splinter Cell: Double Agent ranking third and fifth respectively. PlayStation 2 1. God of War II (Sony), 2. Naruto: Ultimate Ninja 2 (Namco), 3. Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer (Take Two), 4. Transformers: The Game (Activision), 5. Tomb Raider: Anniversary (Eidos). PlayStation 2 requests remained more or less unchanged from last week, with God of War II and Naruto continuing to hold onto the top two spots respectively. The only change of note this week saw Activision's Transformers creep up a spot to take fourth, replacing Eidos' Tomb Raider: Anniversary, which fell to fifth for the week. Xbox 1. Halo 2 (Microsoft), 2. Ninja Gaiden Black (Tecmo), 3. Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic II (LucasArts), 4. Star Wars: Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy (LucasArts), 5. Star Wars: Republic Commando (LucasArts). As expected, Microsoft's Halo 2 remained the top requested title for the original Xbox, with Tecmo's Ninja Gaiden Black surging ahead from last week to take the chart's second position. The rest of the Xbox chart fell into line as expected from previous weeks, with Star Wars branded titles from LucasArts filling out the remainder of the chart. GameCube 1. The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess (Nintendo), 2. Mario Party 7 (Nintendo), 3. Surf's Up (Ubisoft), 4. Super Smash Bros. Melee (Nintendo), 5. Pokemon XD: Gale of Darkness (Nintendo). After a strange week that saw Twilight Princess fall to a distant third after so many weeks on top of the GameCube chart, the game quickly climbed back to take the top spot again, followed by Nintendo's own Mario Party 7. Interestingly, the company's popular brawler Super Smash Bros. Melee also fought its way back onto the charts, this week taking fourth among GameCube requests. Nintendo DS 1. Sim City DS (Electronic Arts), 2. Pokemon Diamond (Nintendo), 3. Brothers in Arms DS (Ubisoft), 4. Pokemon Pearl (Nintendo), 5. Naruto: Ninja Council 3 (D3P). Electronic Arts' Sim City DS was once again the top requested Nintendo DS title for the week, while Nintendo's Pokemon Diamond stayed fast in second. Ubisoft's Brothers in Arms DS, the series' first iteration for the handheld, also proved popular among GameFly subscribes as the third most requested DS title for the week. Game Boy Advance 1. Pokemon: Emerald (Nintendo), 2. Pokemon:Fire Red (Nintendo), 3. Pokemon: Ruby (Nintendo), 4. Pokemon: Leaf Green (Nintendo), 5. Pokemon: Sapphire (Nintendo). The Game Boy Advance was again dominated by all things Pokemon, with Pokemon: Emerald once more top of the charts, followed by Fire Red and Ruby. PlayStation Portable 1. Final Fantasy (Square Enix), 2. Transformers (Activision), 3. Rainbow Six: Vegas (Ubisoft), 4. 300: March to Glory (Eidos), 5. Ratchet & Clank: Size Matters (Sony). Once more it was Square Enix's upcoming RPG remake Final Fantasy Anniversary Edition that topped all other PSP requests for the week, followed by Activision's video game adaptation of the Transformers feature film. Interestingly, after having fallen off the charts for a short time following its long reign in the number one position, Eidos' 300: March to Glory has returned to take the chart's number four spot.
