GameFly Charts Again Topped By Darkness, 360

This week's top rental charts from U.S. game rental company GameFly, representing the most requested games for the week ending July 2, highlight both to-be-released and already released games in a unique demand-specific chart. Take Two's comic-inspired shooter Darkness once again topped all other titles for the week, just as the Xbox 360 again proved to be the dominant gaming platform among GameFly subscribers. In addition to Darkness, other top titles for the week included Codemasters' recently shipped Overlord, which ranked as the second most requested title for the week, followed by Activision's video game adaptation of the Transformers feature film. What follows is a break down of the top titles requested by GameFly subscribers across each of the major platforms: Xbox 360 1. Darkness (Take Two), 2. Overlord (Codemasters), 3. Transformers (Activision), 4. The Bigs (Take Two), 5. DiRT (Codemasters). As mentioned, Darkness topped all requests for the week. Even more impressive was that all ten of the top requested titles for the week were for the Xbox 360, as titles for Microsoft's console swept the service's top weekly requests. Nintendo Wii 1. Resident Evil 4 (Capcom), 2. Big Brain Academy: Wii Degree (Nintendo), 3. Pokemon Battle Revolution (Nintendo), 4. Mario Party 8 (Nintendo), 5. Mario Strikers Charged (Nintendo). Once more it was the Wii edition of Resident Evil 4 that took the top spot on the week's Wii chart, as players continued to flock to the motion sensitive port of Capcom's 2005 opus. Mario Strikers Charged also moved into the chart top five as anticipation builds for the soccer game's July 30 debut. PlayStation 3 1. Ninja Gaiden Sigma (Tecmo), 2. Darkness (Take Two), 3. Transformers (Activision), 4. Rainbow Six: Vegas (Ubisoft), 5. The Bigs (Take Two). Tecmo again worked its “ninja magic” on the PS3 chart, as Ninja Gaiden Sigma remained on the top spot, ahead of Darkness and even Transformers, which climbed up a spot on the hype of this week's movie release. The Bigs, Take Two's recently shipped arcade style baseball game, rounded out the week's top five PS3 requests. PlayStation 2 1. Transformers (Activision), 2. NCAA Football 08 (Electronic Arts), 3. God of War II (Sony), 4. Guitar Hero: Rock the 80s (Activision), 5. The Bigs (Take Two). There was quite a shake up in PS2 requests this week, as long time favorite God of War II fell into third while last week's number two request, Naruto: Ultimate Ninja 2 fell to a distant sixth. The top requested title for the week was Activision's Transformers, while the publisher's upcoming Guitar Hero: Rock the 80s came in as the fourth top requested PS2 title for the week ahead of it's release later this month. Xbox 1. Halo 2 (Microsoft), 2. Thrillville (LucasArts), 3. NCAA Football 08 (Electronic Arts), 4. Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic II (LucasArts), 5. Ninja Gaiden Black (Tecmo). As expected, Microsoft's Halo 2 remained the top requested title for the original Xbox, followed by LucasArts' Thrillville. Another LucasArts title, Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic II, remained a popular choice by GameFly subscribers, ranking fourth for the week among Xbox requests. GameCube 1. The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess (Nintendo), 2. Ratatouille (THQ), 3. Pokemon XD: Gale of Darkness (Nintendo), 4. Mario Party 7 (Nintendo), 5. Mario Kart: Double Dash (Nintendo). Unsurprisingly, The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess remained the top requested GameCube title for the week, with its closet competition coming from THQ's move adaptation of Ratatouille, based on the recent Disney/Pixar feature film of the same name. The rest of the chart was filled out by Nintendo first party efforts, with the only other non-Nintendo published title coming by way of Ubisoft's Surf's Up in sixth. Nintendo DS 1. Sim City DS (Electronic Arts), 2. Pokemon Diamond (Nintendo), 3. Pokemon Pearl (Nintendo), 4. Transformers: Autobots (Activision), 5. Brothers in Arms DS (Ubisoft). Electronic Arts' Sim City DS was once again the top requested Nintendo DS title for the week, while Nintendo's Pokemon Diamond remained in second. Ubisoft's Brothers in Arms DS, the series' first iteration for the handheld, fell slightly from last week to take the chart's fifth position, while Activision's Transformers: Autobots climbed up to the fourth spot for the week. Game Boy Advance 1. Pokemon: Emerald (Nintendo), 2. Pokemon:Fire Red (Nintendo), 3. Pokemon: Leaf Green (Nintendo), 4. Pokemon: Sapphire (Nintendo), 5. Final Fantasy VI Advance (Nintendo). For the first time in weeks, a non-Pokemon title managed to squeeze its way into the Game Boy Advance top five, as the Nintendo published Final Fantasy VI Advance ranked as the fifth most requested title for the platform for the week. The chart was still dominated by Pokemon releases, however, with Pokemon: Emerald still leading the pack. PlayStation Portable 1. Final Fantasy (Square Enix), 2. Transformers (Activision), 3. Rainbow Six: Vegas (Ubisoft), 4. Lumines: Puzzle Edition (Ubisoft), 5. Dungeon & Dragons Tactics (Sony). Again it was Square Enix's recent RPG remake Final Fantasy Anniversary Edition that topped all other PSP requests for the week, followed by Activision's video game adaptation of the Transformers feature film. A pair from Ubisoft, Rainbow Six: Vegas and Lumines: Puzzle Edition, ranked high among GameFly's PSP users as well.
