This week's GameFly video game rental charts for North America, specifically relating to games rented via the games-by-mail service for the week ending March 20th, shows popularity over multiple game formats. Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter shoots to the top of the all-format charts this week, now that the brief frenzy of excitement over the 360 version of Burnout Revenge has burned out. Second place is another 360 exclusive, THQ's World War II shooter The Outfit, with EA's current-generation Black rounding out an all-shooter top three. The only thing keeping the Xbox and its 360 cousin's lineups from being equally monogeneric is Fight Nigh Round 3, which is second on the Xbox list between FPS titles Black at #1 and Half-Life 2 at #3. On the 360, the boxing sim comes in third after Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter in first place and The Outfit in #2, matching the all-platform top two. The PlayStation 2 shows more genre diversity in its top 3: Black is again the #1 game, mirroring its Xbox performance, but the value-added rerelease Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence puts in a solid entry at #2 -- the game's lower retail price may mean that fewer people are willing to rent when it's relatively inexpensive to buy. In third is last week's winner, Onimusha: Dawn of Dreams. It's once again mascots on parade for Nintendo's systems: Sega's Sonic leads the pack with Sonic Riders on GameCube, followed by Super Mario Strikers featuring Nintendo's plumber, and Naruto: Clash of Ninja puts the orange-clad ninja cadet in third place. On Nintendo's Game Boy Advance, Naruto: Ninja Council is still in the lead, beating out Tales of Phantasia's second week at at #2 and rival anime property Yu-Gi-Oh! GX Duel Academy in third. On the Nintendo DS, Super Princess Peach is still floating high above the competition on her parasol, while below her things are shaken up a bit: Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney makes a comeback up to #2, and Pokémon Trozei makes its debut in third place. A new pair of entries top the PSP charts, with the well-received Daxter coming on strong at #1 and Pursuit Force valiantly catching up at #2. Meanwhile, Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories remains at #3, still angling for the day it can return to the top of the charts.
