A new listing published on retailer GameStop's website suggests that Activision's recently-announced Tony Hawk Ride, equipped with skateboard peripheral, will retail for $120. Gamasutra has contacted GameStop to verify this price, and will update with any comment we receive. Given that the full band kit for Activision's Guitar Hero World Tour retails at $190, such a cost for the Tony Hawk bundle would be contextually consistent. Capitalizing on consumer willingness to buy peripheral-bundled titles has played a significant role in Activision's revenue strategy -- unveiling the band kit for Guitar Hero last year allowed the publisher to compete more directly with Electronic Arts and MTV/Harmonix's Rock Band, and the higher price of a peripheral bundle kept revenues for the franchise at high levels even when unit sales began to trail off. Activision also plans to launch turntable peripheral-equipped DJ Hero this fall. Developed by Chicago-based Robomodo, Tony Hawk Ride represents a reboot for the pro skater's video game franchise. It had received regular sequels since the first Tony Hawk's Pro Skater launched in 1999, but hasn't seen a new one since 2007's Tony Hawk's Proving Ground. Activision has said its new Tony Hawk will be a significant re-engineering for the brand, and that the title is planned as a major holiday release. No further details on the game have been released, but the publisher will show the title for the first time at E3.
