Officials from Nintendo of America have been celebrating the Game Boy Advance SP’s first anniversary in the US, claiming it is the fastest selling console ever in the territory. Since its release twelve months ago the format has sold 6.5 million units in North America. Overall, there have been over 20 million combined sales of the Game Boy Advance SP and its immediate predecessor in the United States, with 500 separate games now available for the system. The company also claims that over 35% of SP consoles are owned by people over the age of 18. The Game Boy brand as a whole has now sold over 160 million units in the past fourteen years.
