Chip maker AMD has announced GPU PerfStudio 2.0, the latest version of its free graphics application development tool. AMD says GPU PerfStudio 2.0 is designed to integrate with existing projects and identify and resolve performance issues during development. This version's performance analysis tool has been rewritten, along with several additional features. A frame debugger has been added to freeze applications on a single frame for inspection, while a shader debugger allows for the live debugging of HLSL and ASM pixel shaders. A new frame profile is designed to identify bottlenecks and help implement optimizations. The next-gen, platform-agnostic GPU PerfStudio 2.0 offers support for DirectX 10.1, and platform flexibility including support for 32 and 64-bit applications. It also includes the ability to debug 32-bit applications on a 64-bit system. Developers can also utilize the ATI Radeon graphics processors' feature set. "AMD is committed to arming developers with a full complement of hardware and development tools that help increase their development efficiency and improve 3D performance quality," said Neal Robison, director of developer relations at AMD's graphics products group.
