User Interface Artist, Blizzard Entertainment

Location: Irvine, CA Blizzard Entertainment is currently looking for an experienced and creative user interface (UI) artist for Diablo III. The UI artist will work closely with the senior UI artist, art director, and designers to conceptualize and implement the visual style and interactive experience for Diablo III and any related projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong design sense of usability, aesthetics, and UI flow through various online screens and systems. Responsibilities Apply and maintain Diablo III’s unique art style throughout the entire project interface. Create animated prototypes demonstrating UI interaction models. Create asset layouts for implementation into the game. Collaborate with a team of engineers in the implementation of UI components. Identify priorities and gaps in current designs, and contribute creative solutions. Work collaboratively within a team of developers to create an intuitive UI experience. Requirements A minimum of 3 years’ experience working in the graphics arts / interaction design field Experienced with reading and writing XML data. Strong graphic design skills – particularly iconography creation, artistic sense, and fluency in Adobe Photoshop. Strong understanding of UI and usability principals. Awareness of current trends in Web and user interface design. Able to work well with a team in a dynamic, cross-discipline, and iterative setting. Able to understand technical implementations and limitations. Pluses A passion for video games, and user interface design. Experience designing user interfaces for PC or console games. Prototyping skills with tools, such as, Adobe Flash / Microsoft Blend. Wire-framing experience using Visio. Experience scripting with C#, Lua, or comparable languages. Traditional 2D sketching and composition skills. Extensive experience playing Blizzard Entertainment games.
