This Spring Term Gnomon School of Visual Effects, which specializes in training for careers in high-end computer graphics for the entertainment industries, will offer training subsidies to eligible California employers. In January of this year Gnomon was awarded a contract by the State of California Employment Training Panel to extend funding to California entertainment companies that will offset the cost of training their employees. ETP funding covers all of Gnomon’s high-technology courses. Interested employers should contact Pam Hogarth at Gnomon. The Employment Training Panel (ETP) is a business and labor-supported state agency that assists employers in strengthening their competitive edge by providing funds to off-set the costs of job-skills training necessary to maintain high-performance workplaces. “Gnomon applied for ETP funding so that we could offer the companies in the industries we serve additional help in getting their staff trained,” explains Gnomon Director of Industry Relations Pam Hogarth. “ETP doesn’t pay for the entire cost of classes, but it covers a significant portion. Thus allowing California employers, who might not otherwise afford it, to send their artists to school and to remain competitive in the global economy.” Companies must first apply for eligibility before sending their staff for training. Some restrictions for employer and employee eligibility apply. So interested companies should contact Gnomon directly and soon, as registration for Spring Term classes has begun.
