At this year's PAX festival in Seattle, Hothead Games announced that Penny Arcade Adventures: On the Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness, a downloadable episodic adventure game series based on the popular web-comic, will debut on Xbox Live in early 2008. On the Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness: Episode One is the first title in the planned series announced last year initially for Windows, Mac OS X and Linux. Hothead is collaborating with the Penny Arcade creators and adventure game pioneer Ron Gilbert (Monkey Island, Maniac Mansion, Zak McKracken) to develop the game using GarageGames' Torque Engine, and plans to share any improvements or modifications it makes to the engine back into the main code base for use by other Torque users. "We're very excited to be bringing our game series to Xbox LIVE Arcade," said Vlad Ceraldi, Hothead's President. "We love Xbox LIVE Arcade's ability to deliver great content directly to gamers. Digital distribution lets indie game developers innovate and experiment with new gameplay concepts."
