Hudson Entertainment has announced that summer 2007 will see the release of an 8-person online multiplayer version of the publisher's classic Bomberman for Xbox Live Arcade with Bomberman Live. Following the 2006 retail Xbox 360 release of Bomberman Act: Zero, a version of the game remade in a gritty, updated style widely panned by critics and fans, Bomberman Live will be returning to its classic cartooney roots for the Live Arcade release. Hudson says the Live title will feature, in addition to the 8-player battles, new character customizations, allowing players to personalize their custom Bomberman with some 10,000 possible combinations, and local 4-player multiplayer battles. Said Hudson president John Greiner, "This has been one of our most requested games, our fans have been clamoring for it, and we are thrilled to finally be able to deliver the game they want. As our flagship series, Bomberman has been hailed as the best multiplayer game ever created. Now that Xbox Live Arcade delivers a truly worldwide multiplayer gaming platform, we can at last bring to market a Bomberman game that represents our long-term vision of the brand."
