Intec Sues Gamer’s Factory Over PS2 Screen Patent

Officials from peripheral manufacturer Intec, Inc. have announced that company lawyers have filed a suit against fellow peripheral maker Gamer’s Factory, for patent infringement. The infringement concerns the company’s 5.4 inch portable LCD screen, which can be attached to a PlayStation 2 console. The suit was filed on 2nd July, with a motion for a preliminary injunction on 9th August to stop sales of Gamer’s Factory’s screen. Officals from Gamer’s Factory appear to accept there has been an infringement, with a statement indicating: "Gamer's Factory has unequivocally stated that it will no longer sell the accused device and has no intention to make, use, sell, or import the accused device.” CFO Rodney Hillman went on to comment: "Gamer's Factory has no intention of purchasing either more accused devices or units of similar design to the accused device." Intec holds over 200 patents, many in relation to videogame accessories, but it's unclear whether the company is claiming to hold a patent on all similar attachable PS2 screens, or if this particular model happens to use similar/identical blueprints. Sony itself has created a similar device for the PSOne console, but has not yet announced an official LCD screen peripheral for PlayStation 2.
