Continuing the new product announcements from yesterday Intel’s Ronald Smith, the senior vice president of the company’s Wireless Communications and Computing Group, has announced a new mobile processor code-named Bulverde, which he claims will “put Xbox quality gaming into phones”. The XScale technology of the Bulverde will be used in cell phones, PDAs and other wireless devices and make use of existing MMX multimedia instructions. The primary focus of the new technology though will not be games but higher quality and faster still and video imaging at a long battery life. Although the new processor is intended to launch next year no firm release date or pricing information was made available.
