The Heritage Foundation's manifesto for the possible next administration could do great harm to many, including large portions of the game development community.
Intel has joined Epic's Integrated Partners Program, integrating its TBB 2.2 scaleable memory allocator for multithreaded computing into Unreal Engine 3, according to a new announcement.
With the integration of its Threading Building Blocks 2.2 into Unreal Engine 3, Intel has joined Epic's Integrated Partners Program. The integration partnership means that all UE3 licensees can now use Intel TBB 2.2's scalable memory allocator for multithreaded computing at no extra cost. The Intel TBB runtime library is aimed at making it simpler to write multithreaded applications, and the company says it offers C++ users a higher level of abstraction for parallelism. Developers can use C++ templates and coding, relegating lower-level details to the library. Intel TBB can also be ported between architectures and operating systems. The overall aim is to support developers in programming more quickly, maintaining code more easily, and creating scalable performance. "Bringing Intel into the Integrated Partners Program and integrating Intel TBB into Unreal Engine 3 ensures our licensees are within reach of the best development tools available," says Epic president Michael Capps. "This partnership will help minimize the work required to author multithreaded applications for Unreal-powered games and, in the long term, provide developers with greater access to Intel Tools."
