Apple's iPad continues to shine at retail, topping 3 million units sold since its April 3 launch -- outpacing iPhone launch sales despite initial skepticism at the potential install base for the device. In fact, iPad sales hit one million units in its first 28 days on sale, nearly twice as fast as the iPhone, and topped 2 million after its first two months. Apple only began shipping the touch-tablet to Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Spain, Switzerland and the UK at the end of May, and the company's said it'll add nine more countries in July. "People are loving iPad as it becomes a part of their daily lives," says Apple CEO Steve Jobs. "We’re working hard to get this magical product into the hands of even more people around the world." Apple's now revealing the new milestone just after the launch of the newest version of its mobile development environment, iOS4, on iPhone and iPod Touch. The iPad version is slated for the fall. The company says developers have created 11,000 apps specifically for the device, and thanks to cross-compatibility some 225,000 apps in all are compatible with iPad.
