The merger of two Japanese gaming titans, Square and Enix, officially commences today.
The new corporation, Square Enix Co., Ltd., headquartered in Tokyo, Japan, plans to release 20 new games annually, including the "rotating launch" of one new mega hit title -- presumed to mean one game from a Square team, and one from an Enix team. The new corporation has set a target operating profit of 18.5 billion yen ($157 million) on revenues of 61 billion yen ($517 million) in the 2003-2004 fiscal year.
