As is traditional in the wake of the Japanese Golden Week holidays, video game sales this week have been extremely soft – almost 50 percent of the weekly average. The number one title was a spin-off from Namco’s popular Jikkyou Powerful Pro Baseball series, which accounted for a reasonable 89,536 unit sales on the PlayStation 2. The GameCube version entered at number twelve, with around 13,700 sales. The rest of the top ten did little more than shuffle down one space from the previous week, with Tetris DS still performing well, with 69,673 unit sales in its second week. Konami’s World Soccer Winning Eleven 10 continued to move along reasonably, but not spectacularly, with 50,568 sales, despite the imminent start of the FIFA World Cup. Hardware sales were also proportionally down this week, with the Nintendo DS recording 95,333 sales (only 3,438 of which were on the original hardware). The PSP was in second place with 27,127 unit sales, followed by the PlayStation 2 at 21,138. The Game Boy Advance series of consoles recorded 8,985 sales, with the Xbox 360 still keeping just above the GameCube, with 1,355 unit sales compared to 1,069.
