Sales this week in Japan give a perfect illustration of just how dependant hardware sales are on a steady stream of new software releases. Capcom’s online title Monster Hunter has seen sales of the PlayStation 2 Network Adaptor and Broadband Unit increase dramatically, while GameCube sales too have returned to a double figure market share thanks to the release of The Twin Snakes, as well as Custom Robo last week. The rare entry of an Xbox title into the Japanese top ten has also boosted hardware sales, although celebrating a 1.08% market share will seem rather an empty victory for the company. Overall Game Boy Advance hardware sales once again dominated the market with a 45.37% share, followed by the PlayStation 2 at 40.33%, GameCube at 12.52%, Xbox at 1.08%, WonderSwan Crystal at 0.35% and PS one at 0.34%.
