The PlayStation 2 has reasserted its dominance in this week’s Japanese game chart with a slew of new entries making it into the top ten and the latest addition to the Shin Sangoku Musou (aka Dynasty Warriors) series making an impressive debut at number one. Overall software sales this year are so far only 70% of those in 2003, but with a few good weeks like this, sales could still be equaled or bettered – a reasonable prospect considering next week’s release of Dragon Warriors V. Although a good week for Sony, the weak performance of their latest The Legend of Zelda title will be almost as upsetting to Nintendo as the fact the GameCube has once again fallen to a market share below 10%, despite two titles in the top ten. PlayStation 2 narrowly lead the hardware market this week with a 45.82% share, followed by the Game Boy Advance at 45.77%, GameCube at 7.13%, Xbox at 0.72% and PS one at 0.37%.
