For the second week running Electronic Arts have accounted for the top four out of the UK sales chart top ten. In fact the influence of Christmas present buying can very clearly be seen on the charts, with no new entries in the top ten and family friendly titles such as EyeToy: Play and Finding Nemo remerging at the bottom end of the chart. The influence of the mass market can be further seen with the almost total lack of non-PS2 exclusives in the top forty - with only Mario Kart at number sixteen and Project Gotham Racing 2 at twenty-seven. As in previous weeks there have also been a large number of well regarded titles that have completely failed to make the top forty, with SWAT: Global Strike Team, The Hobbit, Contract JACK, Metal Arms, War of the Ring, Counter-Strike and Ghosthunter all failing to make an appearance. The only titles left to be released before Christmas, that could possibly knock Medal of Honor from the top spot are, predictably, fellow EA titles – with Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone and The Sims: Bustin’ Out both expected to do well this week.
