There has been predictably little change in the first UK sales chart of the new year with Need for Speed achieving its second consecutive week at number one. The only new entry in the top ten is the Grand Theft Auto Double Pack, although many retailers ignored the January 2nd release date and put it on sale before Christmas – hence its appearance last week at number eighteen. As ever at this time of the year unit sales were down considerably from the previous week, although only by 30% - an improvement of 34% on the first week of 2003.
