Latest UK Sales Charts - Week Ending June 19

Atari’s highly controversial DRIV3R has not only hit the number one spot in the UK, in its first official full week on release, but has also recorded the strongest sales for a PlayStation 2 title so far this year. The game achieved the eleventh best selling week of all time for a PlayStation 2 title in the UK and the fifth best selling week of all time for the Xbox. This is despite increasingly widespread, but so far unsubstantiated, allegations of score fixing in certain UK magazines. However, neither the burgeoning scandal nor the game’s majority of negative reviews seem to be affecting its sales, although these factors could have an effect on Atari’s ability to reach it’s sales target of 2.5 million units world-wide. Elsewhere in the charts advance showings of the Shrek 2 movie have had a predictable effect on the game’s chart position while the only new entry in the top ten is Full Spectrum Warrior, which has suffered somewhat as an Xbox exclusive title released in such an already busy week.
