Although Electronic Arts has scored a predictable number one with soccer cup tie-in Euro 2004, the fact that Pokémon Colosseum has outranked the Xbox’s Ninja Gaiden is of great surprise – considering the nature of the UK market and the larger installed user base of the Xbox. In fact, Nintendo’s critically mauled RPG came within a hair’s breadth of getting to number one, while Tecmo’s well-regarded fighter could not even manage to outsell the three week old Hitman: Contracts. Slightly further down the top ten, Midway will be pleased with the performance of horror title The Suffering, while Vivendi will be less happy with the rather weak opening of movie tie-in Van Helsing.
