EA Sport’s FIFA Football 2004 has knocked rival soccer simulation Pro Evolution Soccer 3 from the number one spot after just one week. High first week sales for the perennial title are no great surprise though and the real question will be how the two opposing titles – the mass market FIFA and the critically acclaimed PES - manage to fare over the whole Christmas period. There was only one other new entry in the top ten this week with a relatively low-key entry for PC-only title Max Payne 2 at number seven. Elsewhere in the charts the huge difference in installed user base and increased game prices for the GBA in the UK, compared to virtually anywhere else in the world, saw current US number two title Final Fantasy Tactics enter at only number seventeen.
