Following a series of new executive appointments, Christian-themed game developer Left Behind Games has revealed that it intends to integrate Apple’s iTunes into its flagship title Left Behind: Eternal Forces. Consumers will be able to purchase tracks and play custom iTunes playlists from within the game. Selecting a link will pause the game and launch the iTunes music store, from where the music tracks can be purchased. The game includes a customized music list, ensuring players are not limited only to the music tracks available on iTunes. "After each game level you win, a reward screen pops up with the name of the song and artist," Jeff Frichner, Left Behind Games president and co-founder told website Infoworld. "The link takes the person to the album track on the iTunes site." "We believe consumers want choices and prefer interactive advertising, rather than interruptive ads," said Troy Lyndon, CEO, Left Behind Games. "We are delighted to provide these music links as an added value to our gamers." Despite the connection with iTunes the game is currently only scheduled for release on the PC format. Although Sony has already hinted at considerable interest in allowing for various types of media to be downloaded from within a game, on both the PlayStation 3 and PSP, this is the first time that Apple’s iTunes has been used in this way.
