Mac and iPhone developer community iDevGames says Justin Ficarrotta's Laserface Jones vs Doomsday Odius has won its uDevGames 2008 contest with the title of "Best Overall Game." Public vote determined the winners of the challenge, which requires teams to create a Mac game in three months. 20 games from Mac developers worldwide were submitted, and developers were also recognized in the Gameplay, Graphics, Audio, Story, Presentation and Originality categories. The winners will share a $20,000 prize pool donated by the contest sponsors. The contest was originally established with the aim of motivating developers to work on the Mac platform, and then to release the cames under an OSI open-source license. "With the success of the Apple iPhone and iTouch, there’s never been a better time to be a game developer for Apple’s platforms," said iDevGames editor-in-chief Carlos Camacho. "This newfound interest in gaming for Apple’s devices and computers, means that uDevGames is positioned to play a vital role in spotlighting tomorrow’s top game developers, as well as motivating our developer community to reach new heights in their programming and marketing skills."
