Mario Parties To The Top Of GameFly Weekly Charts

This week's top rental charts from U.S. game rental company GameFly, representing the most requested games for the week ending May 25, highlight both to-be-released and already released games in a unique demand-specific chart. It was Nintendo's upcoming multiplayer party game sequel Mario Party 8, shipping this week, that topped all other requests for the week. Disney Interactive's mutiplatform adaptation of the recent theatrical release Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End ranked second, followed by Microsoft's cross platform multiplayer-focused shooter Shadowrun. What follows is a break down of the top titles requested by GameFly subscribers across each of the major platforms: Xbox 360 1. Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End (Disney Interactive), 2. Shadowrun (Microsoft) 3. Forza Motorsport 2 (Microsoft), 4. Halo 3 (Microsoft), 5. Call of Juarez (Ubisoft). The popularity of the recently released Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End film was echoed on the Xbox 360 chart, where the video game version topped all other titles for the platform. Games released or upcoming from Microsoft itself also proved popular for the week, accounting for 3 of the top five requested Xbox 360 titles. Nintendo Wii 1. Mario Party 8 (Nintendo), 2. Resident Evil 4 (Capcom), 3. Super Paper Mario (Nintendo), 4. Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End (Disney Interactive), 5. Big Brain Academy: Wii Degree (Nintendo) Not surprisingly, the much anticipated Mario Party 8 ranked above all other Wii requests for the week, followed by the upcoming Wii port of Resident Evil 4. The popularity of Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End was felt on Nintendo's console as well, with the Wii version of the game ranking fourth for the week. PlayStation 3 1. Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End (Disney Interactive), 2. MLB 07: The Show (Sony) 3. Spiderman 3 (Activision), 4.Transformers: The Game (Activision), 5. Lair (Sony). Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End topped all other PlayStation 3 titles for the week, while Activision's movie inspired Spiderman 3 continued to cling onto the chart from the third position. Lair, Sony's dragon-focused PS3 showpiece, ranked fifth on the chart ahead of its expected July 31 release. PlayStation 2 1. Naruto: Ultimate Ninja 2 (Namco), 2. Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End (Disney Interactive), 3. Spiderman 3 (Activision), 4. Odin Sphere (Atlus), 5. God of War II (Sony). It was Naruto: Ultimate Ninja 2 from Namco that claimed the week's top spot among PlayStation 2 requests, beating Disney's Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End, which took the chart's second spot. Atlus' gorgeous action RPG Odin Sphere remained confident in fourth place, followed by Sony's ever popular God of War II. Xbox 1. Halo 2 (Microsoft), 2. Destroy All Humans 2 (THQ), 3. Scarface: The World Is Yours (Vivendi), 4. Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic II (LucasArts) 5. Ninja Gaiden Black (Tecmo). Microsoft's Halo 2 continued to dominate the week's Xbox requests, followed by THQ's Destroy All Humans 2. LucasArts' Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic II crept back into the chart to take the fourth position, while Tecmo's remixed Ninja Gaiden Black rounded out the top five Xbox requests for the week. GameCube 1. The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess (Nintendo), 2. Mario Party 7 (Nintendo), 3. Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door (Nintendo), 4. Legend of Zelda: Collector's Edition (Nintendo), 5. Pokemon XD: Gale of Darkness (Nintendo). Once again, all of the top requested titles for the GameCube were first party releases, a testament to Nintendo's status as a highly regarded first party developer and publisher. The request chart was again topped by The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, while Nintendo's multiplayer mini-game collection Mario Party 7 claimed the chart's second position. Nintendo DS 1. Pokemon Diamond (Nintendo), 2. Touch the Dead (Eidos), 3. Naruto: Ninja Council 3 (D3P), 4. Pokemon Pearl (Nintendo), 5. New Super Mario Bros. (Nintendo). Once more the Nintendo DS chart was dominated by Nintendo's recently released Pokemon Diamond, while the game's companion title Pokemon Pearl took the chart's fourth spot. Eidos' zombie filled Touch the Dead ranked as the second most requested DS title for the week. Game Boy Advance 1. Pokemon: Fire Red (Nintendo), 2. Pokemon: Emerald (Nintendo), 3. Pokemon: Leaf Green (Nintendo), 4. Pokemon: Ruby (Nintendo), 5. Pokemon: Sapphire (Nintendo). The Game Boy Advance chart remained controlled by Pokemon, with Pokemon: Fire Red taking the top spot for the week, followed by Pokemon: Emerald. In addition to these top five titles, another Pokemon release, Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Red Rescue Team ranked ninth on the handheld's weekly chart as well. PlayStation Portable 1. Ratchet & Clank: Size Matters (Sony), 2. Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End (Disney Interactive), 3. 300: March to Glory (Eidos) 4. SOCOM: U.S. Navy SEALs Fireteam Bravo 2 (Sony), 5. God of War: Chains of Olympus (Sony). Lastly, PSP requests were topped by Sony's Ratchet & Clank: Size Matters, while a pair of movie adaptations, Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End and 300: March to Glory, took the following two spots respectively. Sony's recently announced God of War: Chains of Olympus, the series' first incarnation for a platform other than the PS2, ranked fifth.
