PaRappa The Rapper creator Masaya Matsuura, often credited as the "father" of the rhythm-action genre, will be delivering the BAFTA Vision Statement this year at Nottingham's GameCity Squared festival on October 31. Past speakers have included the Oddworld series' Lorne Lanning, Katamari Damacy's Keita Takahashi and LittleBigPlanet's Alex Evans. This year, Matsuura will discuss the state of the music game genre and share his personal thoughts on gaming's future. "The Vision Statement is a unique platform for the most interesting, provocative developers in the World to deliver their thoughts and manifestos independent of any PR constraint," explains GameCity director Iain Simons. "We're beside ourselves with excitement that Matsuura-san has agreed to deliver the address this year," he adds. Event organizers say that full details, new venues and a complete program will soon be revealed, promising "the most audacious GameCity yet." In the meantime, interested parties can keep on top of relevant details at the event's official website.
