French digital distribution company Metaboli has signed a three-year agreement with Epic Games that will see the Unreal catalog on offer for DRM-free download in the U.S. and Europe. The deal covers the GameTap service in the U.S, and the Metaboli and Gamesplanet services in Europe. Unreal Gold, Unreal II: The Awakening, Unreal Tournament: Game of the Year Edition, Unreal Tournament 2004: Editor’s Choice Edition, and Unreal Tournament 3 Black are all covered in both regions on both a full-purchase and subscription basis. Metaboli's partner network, which includes BT, MSN and Game in Europe with more U.S. partners soon to be announced, will support the marketing of the Unreal series under the company's three distribution brands. "This is the very first time Unreal Tournament 3 has been available for subscription, and we’re pleased to increase the availability of the Unreal series through this partnership with Metaboli," says Epic VP Jay Wilbur. "Our aim is to make it as easy as possible for players to access our content, and we hope to better serve the Unreal community through this arrangement."
