Microsoft details which full Xbox 360 titles will be part of its Xbox Live Games on Demand service when the August 11th Fall Dashboard Update launches, and sheds some more light on the Avatars clothing shop.
When Microsoft's new Fall Dashboard Update for Xbox 360 rolls out on August 11, it'll bring Games on Demand to the Xbox Live service, launching the digital distribution offering the company announced at E3. Now, the company details which games will be part of Games on Demand. Initially, the service will allow gamers to buy and download more than 30 full Xbox 360 games, and the company says it will add more on a weekly basis. The launch line-up is as follows: Assassin’s Creed (Ubisoft) BioShock (2K Games) Burnout Paradise (EA) Call of Duty 2 (Activision) Dance Dance Revolution Universe (Konami) Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion (Bethesda) Fight Night Round 3 (EA) Kameo: Elements of Power (Microsoft Game Studios) Karaoke Revolution American Idol Encore (Konami) LEGO Star Wars: The Complete Saga (LucasArts) Mass Effect (Microsoft Game Studios) Meet The Robinsons (Disney) MX vs. ATV Untamed (THQ) Need for Speed Carbon (EA) Need for Speed: Most Wanted (EA) Perfect Dark Zero (Microsoft Game Studios) Prey (2K Games) Ridge Racer 6 (Namco Bandai) Rockstar Games Presents Table Tennis (Rockstar Games) Sonic the Hedgehog (Sega) Test Drive: Unlimited (Atari) Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Vegas Viva Pinata (Microsoft Game Studios) Viva Pinata 2: Trouble in Paradise (Microsoft Game Studios) Microsoft has also detailed new content sorting features for both friends lists and game libraries, and users will be able to star-rate their favorite titles, creating a ranking system for all downloadable games -- including Xbox Live Indie Games. The company is also expanding content around its Avatars system, offering a clothing shop with a broader line-up of outfits from real-world vendors like Adidas, Quiksilver, Roxy and Tokidoki, and making available fashion categories like "Steampunk" and "Recessionista". Players will also be able to earn Avatar clothing by playing games, Microsoft says. Other previously announced forthcoming features updates, such as support for Facebook, Twitter, and Last.fm, appear to be coming later in the fall, rather than as part of the August 11 update. [UPDATE: Microsoft has contacted Gamasutra to explain that the initial release list erroneously applied only to the UK store; the list above has corrected to reflect the games that will be available on the U.S. store. Games added: BioShock, Dance Dance Revolution Universe, Karaoke Revolution American Idol Encore, Ridge Racer 6, Sonic the Hedgehog. Games removed (presumably UK-only): Sega Rally, Tomb Raider Legend. Microsoft has also informed us that this update will also included improved Netflix functionality that will allow U.S. users to update their queues directly via Xbox Live, and view movies in movie parties with up to seven users.]
