Microsoft, Sony Drop Console Prices

After Sony announced a price cut to $179 for the PS2 to clear out inventory and make way their latest iteration, Microsoft has followed suite and announced an identical reduction to the Xbox.

The new model of the PS2 will come with a network adaptor as well as some new features such as progressive DVD playback and an IR port for the remote control. Microsoft has not announced any news on whether it too will release a remodelled console. The new model of the PS2 is expected to be available in June for an MSRP of $200.
