Argentina-based Adventureland Entertainment has just launched Lab Technology Construction Kit, a development environment specifically designed for developing game editors that design teams can use to rapidly generate game content. The Lab Technology Construction Kit is a development environment that includes a built-in compiler/linker that creates and deploys the output for your game engine -- data packages, resource packages and external files. A data package stores runtime information into a single file to provide a data delivery vehicle for the game engine. Resource packages contain multiple files in a single chunk to provide a resource delivery vehicle for the game engine. Packages can be created automatically, or you can override Construction Kit's settings and implement your own package format, compression and encryption algorithms, and so on. It can represent and store a variety of data and files, from metadata defined via classes and properties created by the Lab Project Designer, to data stored within containers, plus a special kind of record for storing a hierarchical list of class instances. It comes with IDE tools like object inspectors, a class explorer, container tree view, message window and data handling browsers to manage your game data. The Lab Technology Construction Kit framework supports DirectX, OpenGL, and SDL, and lets you integrate scripting languages and code editors into your game editor application. Currently The Lab Technology Construction Kit supports Delphi 6/7, with separate versions for C++ Builder and .NET coming this Spring/Summer. The Delphi kit is priced at $499, and customers who buy it before May will automatically get the .NET version when it is released.
