Japanese Nihon Keizai Shimbun, which was at the heart of controversy last week surrending misinterpreted comments from Nintendo president Satoru Iwata, concerning the company’s next home console, has posted an interview with former Nintendo president Hiroshi Yamauchi. In the interview Yamauchi suggested that the company’s fate would be decided in the next two years. In his opinion if the Nintendo DS becomes a success the company will “be in the sky”, but if it fails the company will “sink into the hell”. Yamauchi also revealed that the dual screen system was originally his idea and will be his last proposal to the company. Commenting on the company’s next home console Yamauchi re-confirmed that it would be demonstrated at E3 2005, but complained that people who use the term 'next generation' have "no knowledge with games" (sic). He further reiterated the long held Nintendo tenet that better technology does not automatically offer more interesting games. Source: The Magic Box
