Nokia said today that it expects to launch the recently announced N-Gage telephone/game device sometime this Fall.
Ilkka Raskinen, the senior vice president of Nokia's entertainment and media business unit, told Reuters at the GDC that the N-Gage was about to enter the product testing phase of its development. "After the summer vacation we will start to ship the device," Raskinen said. Nokia will launch the N-Gage around the world simultaneously. Interestingly, Raskinen said he doesn't view the N-Gage as a competitor to the Game Boy Advance, claiming that the fact that it's a cell phone will appeal to an older player demographic than the GBA. He also said that the N-Gage will be available in various retail outlets, not just cell phone stores.
