Nvidia unveiled two new graphics chips, the Nvidia GeForce FX 5600 and 5200 DirectX 9.0-class GPUs, at the Game Developers Conference today.
The company claims that the GPUs will bring movie-quality shading, rendering, and cinematic computing quality. Both GPUs will also include the CineFX architecture, with vertex and pixel shaders. The GeForce FX 5600 targets the mainstream market, incorporating the GeForce FX feature set, including Intellisample 2.0. According to the company, the GeForce FX 5600 GPUs deliver 30% more performance at half the price of the GeForce4 Ti 4600. The GeForce FX 5200 GPU is the company's value-line chip, supporting DirectX 9.0, with a price tag of $79. Boards with the new chips will start appearing in retail next month from a number of graphics card manufacturers, including Creative and Leadtek.
