NXN Software has announced that it will be previewing Alienbrain Studio 7 at the GDC conference later this month, and shipping it mid-April. According to NXN Software, the enhancements to the asset management package are focused on making the product easier to use and on improving performance. Configuring user privligess is much easier for administrators, now that it can use accounts defined in Microsoft Windows' Active Directory as well as LDAP servers, thus supporting single sign-on. And the software is now multithreaded, to take advantage of multiple processors. For end-users, one of the key enhancements is the change set feature, which allows one to work on a set of related files, and then check the whole set back into the server at once--making it easier to publish updates as well as ensuring that no changes are made live until all dependent files in the set have been checked in.
